Cleft House
This duplex along the Venice canals optimizes a small site into a light-box featuring “sky patios, pre-fabricated, translucent wall panels and elevated indoor/outdoor living.
Located on an extremely narrow lot, the clients required a unique duplex solution harnessing waterfront views without loss of privacy, sustainability, and maximizing space within stringent cost control.
Conceived of as a vertical light box, Cleft House features walls made of translucent, pre-fab panels as well as massive sliding window walls. By elevating and offsetting the main living spaces, we captured canal views and prevailing coastal breezes, eliminating air conditioning & privacy issues. A "sky patio" hidden within the roofline provides an inviting exterior/interior space while dampening road noise.
